In the modern world, when conflicts and confrontations emerge with new strength, the objectives of peacekeeping become especially acute, the foundations of which were laid in the ancient times and are no constantly developed and perfected by the United Nations Organization.
The unique content of this course of lectures by Vladimir Zaemsky contains an in-depth analysis of the activities of the international community aimed at providing peacekeeping operations in post-conflict situations, reviews the possible perspectives of international activities in the sphere, relying on collective experience, gained by state members as well as the UN Secretariat over the entire history of peacekeeping operations. This course is recommended to students as a study guide and can become of great importance and solid support to the efforts of Russian diplomacy in activating the country’s participation in the UN peacekeeping activities – an important indicator of the enhanced capacities and responsibility of Russia in international relations.
